He is not here; he is risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.
Matthew 28.6
Happy Easter everyone! What an amazing gift today represents! I can hardly fathom the magnitude of events or the emotional ride of those around Jesus during that time.
One of the things that I grasp through the Easter season is how love overcomes hate. There was so much hatred around Christ’s crucifixion. People who didn’t know anything about him were calling for his death. Even his closest supporters who loved him dearly fell to moments of denial to the gift that he was to mankind.
I wonder if the hate on the streets and in the crowd felt anything like the hate and fear that circulates today. Sometime my heart hurts reading about how fearful someone is of what they may not know or understand. Hate, anger and bitterness can fill a void of the unknown.
Here is what I believe to be the gift of today! Look what followers of Christ have to celebrate today! The tomb was empty; love overcame death!
This is encouraging to me as I see hatred, anger and bitterness throughout our world. Jesus overcame! Christ’s love overcame death! Love overcomes!
I hope that this Easter Sunday reminder will inspire you too to find the love that lives through times of darkness. I hope you find moments that are inexplicable and can only be a wink from God to remind us that we are not on this journey alone.
Happy Easter Peeps!
